Plein Air Festival
Watch art come to life during the Plein Air Festival, a five-day celebration of outdoor painting in Batesville and throughout Independence County.
Hosted by Gallery 246, the festival brings artists together for a workshop, painting competitions, live demonstrations, exhibitions, and special events. Visitors are invited to watch participating artists capture the beauty of downtown Batesville and the surrounding countryside, then view and purchase the finished works.
Tuesday, October 6 — Workshop & Artist Reception
The festival begins with a plein air painting workshop led by Farley Lewis, followed by a reception for competition artists and sponsors.
Wednesday, October 7 — Main Street Paint Out
Artists will set up throughout downtown Batesville to capture the people, places, and character of historic Main Street.
Thursday, October 8 — Countryside Paint Out & Demonstration
Artists will paint scenes from across the Batesville countryside. The public is invited to attend a live demonstration with Farley Lewis at 9 a.m.
Friday, October 9 — Preview Party, Exhibition & Awards
Competition painting continues until noon, followed by the public Preview Party at Gallery 246. View the completed competition entries, celebrate the award winners, and purchase original artwork directly from the exhibition.
Saturday, October 10 — Exhibition & Artoberfest
The Plein Air Festival Exhibition will remain on display and available for purchase at Gallery 246. Downtown will also come alive for the Batesville Area Arts Council’s annual Artoberfest, where artists will display and sell their work directly to the public.
