Putt & Porch Brings a Beloved Batesville Favorite Back to Life

The Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of Putt & Porch. The event welcomed new owners Rusty and CJ Elumbaugh and marked the return of a well-known spot for the community to gather.

Putt & Porch, at 455 Gap Road, brings new life to a place many in Batesville remember as the old Putt and Putt mini-golf course. The Elumbaughs bought the property to restore a spot full of childhood memories and to create a new place for families and celebrations.

“We live close, so we were driving by, and it popped up for sale,” Rusty Elumbaugh said. “I said, ‘We ought to do something with that place.’”

At first, the couple thought about other uses for the property, but CJ Elumbaugh wanted to bring mini golf back to the community. This idea became Putt & Porch, an event venue where people can play golf or simply relax with family and friends.

“We decided to do it as an event venue because Batesville needs more places for kids to hang out and have birthday parties,” CJ said. “We’ve made this so there’s a spot for everyone to hang out, or with 36 holes, everyone can get out there and play golf.”

The venue has 36 holes of mini golf, a porch area for gatherings, and indoor space where guests can relax, watch football, or spend time together. The setup makes it easy for people of all ages and interests to join in, even if they just want to visit with friends and family instead of playing golf.

Restoring the property took a lot of hands-on work. The family fixed up the course, put in new turf, and brought the grounds back to life, all while keeping the original concrete layout that Malcolm Ford designed years ago.

CJ thanked their two sons, Ryder and Rixon Elumbaugh, for working hard on the project. The boys helped with everything from hauling gravel and rocks to designing the courses, playing a big part in transforming the property.

The family decided to keep Ford’s original layout and update the course for a new generation of visitors. This honors the vision behind a place that has been part of Batesville’s history for many years.

Putt & Porch can be rented for four-hour private events, with options for both weekdays and weekends. The venue is set up for birthday parties, family celebrations, and other private gatherings. Rental prices depend on the day and time.

To book the venue, guests can go to the Putt & Porch Facebook page, pick a date and time, and fill out the online booking form. For more information or questions, call 870-307-2130.

The Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce congratulates the Elumbaugh family for bringing this much-loved spot back and creating a place where families and friends can gather, celebrate, and make new memories.
