Batesville Earns Top 10 Spot in USA Today’s Best Small Towns in the South

The annual 10Best awards are decided by public vote and bring Southern communities together in friendly competition. Supporters could vote every day during the month-long campaign.

USA Today editors highlighted the South’s charm, hospitality, and history, saying small towns offer relaxing getaways, cultural experiences, outdoor adventures, and great food. An expert panel nominates the towns, and then readers across the country vote.

USA Today’s feature pointed out Batesville’s mix of history, local flavor, and outdoor fun, noting: “From catching a movie at the historic Melba Theater to grabbing dinner at Bigger Burger Better BBQ to checking out the local shops, Batesville welcomes you to explore. Located in northern Arkansas, this destination also offers plenty in the way of outdoor recreation, including hiking, canoeing, climbing, and spelunking.”

“This wasn’t just about a ranking. It was about coming together,” Johnson said. “And once again, our community showed up.”

This new honor joins Batesville’s growing list of awards, such as being named a USA Today Top 25 City, a Trendsetter City by Arkansas Business, and one of the Best Places to Raise a Family in Arkansas.

As Batesville continues to invest in quality of life, outdoor activities, and economic growth, this national recognition shows what locals and visitors already know: Batesville is a city worth celebrating.
