Andy Buschmann 4-Mile Classic

Be part of one of Batesville’s most enduring running traditions at the Andy Buschmann 4-Mile Classic, held each June in downtown Batesville. Formerly known as the White River 4 Mile Classic and HealthSouth 4 Mile Classic, this annual event honors Andy Buschmann, a beloved local runner who competed in every version of the race from its founding in 1978 until 2021.

The race begins and ends on Main Street near City Hall and follows a USATF-certified course through Batesville’s historic downtown and residential neighborhoods. Participants can expect a scenic route with a fast downhill start, followed by a few challenging climbs that make the race both memorable and rewarding. Runners and walkers are welcome, and all participants receive a race shirt.

Beyond the finish line, the event carries a deeper community impact, with proceeds benefiting local charities serving Independence County. With its strong local roots, welcoming atmosphere, and classic summer race-day energy, the Andy Buschmann 4-Mile Classic is a great way to experience Batesville while taking part in a meaningful community tradition.
