Christmasse Madrigal Feaste
Southside High School’s annual production, the “Ye Olde Christmasse Madrigal Feaste” will be held December 8 and 9.
In the style of “Merrie Olde England,” with Renaissance costumes, decorations, drama, and fanfares, the Southside High School choirs and chamber singers will host an elegant evening of songs and a marvelous feaste reminiscent of banquets in the time of King Arthur.
The menu will include wassail bowl, the lighting of the Christmas candle, the procession of the boar’s head along with fresh fruit, cheese, French onion potage, pork tenderloin au jus, twice-baked potatoes, green bean bundles, whole loaves of wheat bread and flaming dessert.
Interspersed with brass fanfares will be songs from the roaming minstrels, singers singing joyful Christmas songs, and other surprises occurring while the meal is served by English wenches and pages. Guests may even be honored with words from members of the royal court.
Early reservations are encouraged since seating is limited.
